I was in Los Angeles shooting with friends @jessiqap@blakereed a couple weeks ago and producer @fboulaire found that amazing location in Chinatown. While he got to shoot video I was on for some portraits following out storyline. It was quite a fun project and I am really grateful that I’ve got to work there. It got really hot during the day but we were so happy with the result that we’ve stayed over time. It’s always good fun to try out new locations. But this one had quite a magic feel with these classic race cars.
I had the pleasure to shoot an editorial in West Marin for Eating Well magazine. The story was about @malt_ag (Marin Agricultural Land Trust). They protect the land and family farms since the 1980’s. I went all around. From the Lighthouse, west of Point Reyes National Seashore, to Petaluma via Limantour beach and Point Reyes Station. I’ve got to meet people who are amazing craftsmen. Sue Conley co-founded @cowgirlcreamery back in the late 1980’s. Peter Martinelli grows organic produce at #freshrunfarm in Bolinas for @sprucerestaurantsf. All these encounters made it a great experience.
It was really fun to meet Jayde Fish for San Francisco magazine a couple weeks ago. Her design got picked up by Gucci and printed on the SS17 collection. She lives in North Beach AKA Little Italy with her husband, artist Jeremy Fish and their hilarious lazy cat. I was happy to spend a couple hours in their home atelier where she creates all these beautiful, quirky designs. Simply put – she is awesome. And she makes a great subject as she dresses up in beautiful and vintage clothing. Well, and Gucci.
I wanted to share these few images that I shot on my last trip in August. This is Auvergne, where I grew up. Mountains, cows, cheese and charcuterie all the way 🙂 It’s also a place of contemplation where you can wander for kilometers without seeing anybody. There are so many trails and little wonders to explore – it’s incredible. For instance that last image is a retired shepherd’s refugee, we call it “buron”. Now it’s open for hikers. There is no key, no lock. Just enter, spend the night, clean up after yourself. It’s simply a wonderful experience to wake up hearing cows’ bells passing by.
Meet the fam’ – in these portraits are my dad Jacques, brother Xavier, and his son Louis. And Dori, the Fox Terrier.
It was a pleasure producing a photo shoot last month with @fboulaire in Los angeles. Or close by – on the beach in Corona Del Mar. We went scouting the day before along the coast by motorcycle – quite an awesome ride indeed. We had that perfect SoCal weather, and had a fun time with @caitlinleahy and @nickviciouss at sunset. These two were a great match and hit it off from the start – super pros and awesome to work with.
We’ll be sharing later on some colorful images from that shoot, Caitlin’s blue eyes working their magic at dusk 😉
Here’s a preview of the black and white portraits that we’ve got.
Victor Hugo wrote in a poem “Demain, dès l’aube, à l’heure où blanchit la campagne,
Je partirai…” so did we.
Not the poem. But waking up way early, long before the sun was rising we headed on location for a shoot at Firebrand Artisan Breads bakery in Oakland. The moment we walked through the doors the aroma of fresh baked bread was in the air. My crew and I enjoyed getting to know bread maker Matt & pastry chef Colleen during our photo shoot. These two honest animals have a passion for their craft and a love for well made eatable happiness. Thanks to producer Lisa and the rest of the team, I was able to capture some cool portraits of two kind hearted badass.

Another great editorial shoot for Diablo Magazine. My crew and I set up at 3 locations, including the State Capitol in Sacramento. The women I photographed are inspirational figures to young women in our community.
These three women have succeeded in their leadership roles despite woman’s ongoing struggles for equal opportunities in male dominated fields. Catherine Baker ended up running in the state legislature and became Assemblywoman in the 16th Assembly District. Claudia Wentworth, president and CEO of a Solar manufacturing company earned 2015’s Most Influential Woman in Business by the San Francisco Business Times. Pamela Kan, President of Bishop-Wisecarver Group was appointed to the California Workforce Development Board by Governor Jerry Brown.
